Anti-Piracy Guards.

Now that Military Guards have been withdrawn,

consequent upon the inauguration of Native Guards under

the control of the Hongkong rolice, we desire to place on

record our grateful thanks to the Naval and Military

Authorities for their valuable assistance during the past

two years but for which our passenger business could only

have been conducted at considerable risk to our personnel

afloat and anxiety to ourselves.

We shall be glad if you will kindly convey our

thanks to all concerned, particularly to the Military

Authorities on whom fell the greater part of the work in

providing Guards.

We are, Sir,

Your obedient servants.

Sd. Jardine, Matheson & Co., Ltd.,

GENERAL MANAGERS.

The President,

Anti-piracy Committee,

H.M.Naval Yard,
